Project Description

BESC Training Courses

We’re currently offering BESC courses for only £125+vat, per person! The scheme standards cover the basic requirements for safely entering, moving around and exiting work areas in electrical environments.

Basic Electrical Safety Competence (BESC) scheme

The Access, Movement & Egress registration scheme is intended for all persons who will be required to carry out duties on or near operational plant and equipment in transmission and / or distribution electricity environments. It replaces the previous Basic Electrical Safety Competence (BESC) scheme, however to aid recognition for delegates transferring to the new schemes the ‘BESC’ notation has been retained.

The scheme does not cover skills required for carrying out operational work tasks on the electrical network, e.g. cable jointing.

AME assessments are available in the following areas of electrical transmission and distribution:

You must show you are competent to:

  • Safely access, move around and egress a substation work area
  • Comply with Company procedures, health and safety regulations and environmental practices
  • Identify the risks associated with substation apparatus, substation damage and excavation
  • Use and communicate data and information
  • Resolve problems effectively and efficiently

The assessment can also be completed with unconnected equipment so long as the scenario mirrors that of an operational site.

Upon successful completion the assessor will give the trainee a cover note and the trainee will be registered on the EUSR and a BESC card produced within 28 days.Registration last for 3 years after which the candidate must undertake a further assessment to remain registered with EUSR.

Assessment is delivered by qualified assessors accredited by Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills).
