We are seeking to employ four new staff, two London based and two North West based

UCT is a leading provider of apprenticeships training and adult upskilling training to the UK’s utility and construction sectors, specialising in provision of highly technical training skills to the power, gas and water distribution sectors.  We count amongst our customer base, both major blue chip multi-national companies and self-employed contractors.

The business was formed in November 2007 and operates from its HQ in Carrington, Manchester along with additional facilities near Glasgow and in North London. We also provide compliance training at our customer’s own Skills Development centres along with localised classroom based delivery and on site assessments where required.

In line with business growth objectives over the next five years and in response to current and forecasted demand, we are now seeking to employ a number of new staff to ensure that the required resources are in place. Successful candidates will receive relevant training and development to ensure that they are competent and able to fulfil their job roles. A good remuneration package is on offer which is highly competitive.

UCT has recently been inspected by Ofsted and has been awarded ‘Good’ provider status. In line with requirements for funded learning providers and safeguarding compliance, all prospective new staff are required to undergo a DBS check and to provide two references from previous employers if requested. Interested applicants are required to submit their CV, containing full career history and understand that compliance with safeguarding requirements, including an enhanced DBS check for the successful candidate is a mandatory requirement.

Role Profile – Trainer/ Assessor

Main Aim:                           To train and assess candidate competence against the awarding organisation standards and enable them to achieve a Vocational Qualification. Training staff are to encourage good learning experience and promote lifelong learning.

Responsible to                  UCT Centre Manager

Responsible for                Learners/Candidates

Liaises with                        Quality Improvement and Internal Quality Assurance Team, other assessors/ Trainers, business support team.

House of work                  Monday – Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm

Company/Job information: Utility & Construction Training Limited is a National training provider, therefore training staff are expected to travel to clients/ learner workplaces.

General Duties of the Post

  • Complete all administrative work linked to the qualification and assessments.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of assessments and paperwork in accordance with awarding organisation requirements.
  • Provide prompt information, advice, guidance and constructive feedback to candidate during and after completion of the qualification.
  • Make sure that assessment strategies used are inclusive (regardless of gender, age or origin) and be fair, reliable and consistent in assessment decisions.
  • Co-operate with the internal quality assurance procedures.
  • Be fair, reliable and consistent in assessment decisions.
  • Maintain high standards of work at all times, keeping accurate records.
  • Ensure that all candidates comply with Health and safety standards.
  • Be aware of Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding including the Prevent Duty.
  • Work flexibly, which may include weekend work.
  • Keep up to date with quality improvement initiatives and to be aware of and meet service standards.
  • Be able to assist in implementing new procedures in accordance with relevant quality assurance requirements.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 which is the UK implementation of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Successful candidate must have the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience

Full Driving Licence

Desired but not essential as full training will be provided:

  • Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Level 4
  • Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Level 3, A1 or D32/33 Qualification
  • Some knowledge of computer systems, such as word.
