Power Training

UCT delivers formal training in Electrical Power Engineering. Courses range from a 1 day refresher programs to 3 year, level 3 Power Network Craftsperson Apprenticeships. The scope of training input includes craft trade skills, Industry licences, and technical training. All programs are award body accredited where available through City and Guilds or Energy and Utility Skills. Practical and academic training delivered nationally and internationally to a range of companies from blue chip to the self-employed. Craft trade skills includes:- Cable Jointing - Live LV, 11KV, 22KV and 33KV Electrical Fitting - Distribution and Transmission, LV to 132KV Overhead Lines - LV - 33KV, Distribution and Transmission & wood pole. All supported by academic input in the form of a technical certificate C&G 2339-17 electrical power engineering qualification.

Gas Training

We offer a wide spectrum of courses for new and existing employees working in the gas distribution sector. These range from single day courses, such as Gas SHEA, to full Apprenticeships. We can deliver Level 1 & 2 Diplomas in Network Construction Operations (NCO), Fundamental Gas Safety and SCO training. In addition, we can provide supporting courses such as Trench Support, Large Diameter Butt & Electrofusion.

Streetworks

The New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 (NRSWA) requires organisations to ensure that work to install, renew, maintain and inspect underground apparatus in the street is controlled by competent people. To meet these requirements, organisations have to make sure that an operative, with the appropriate qualification(s), is on site when works are in progress. The qualifications for the various types of work are made up of one or more units of competence. UCT can offer full courses for Operatives or Supervisors and single units, such as, Signing Lighting & Guarding, Hotlay, Cat & Genny.

We can deliver Level 1 & 2 Diplomas in Network Construction Operations (NCO), Water leakage training, Safe Control of Mains Connections and more. In addition, we can provide supporting courses such as Trench Support, Large Diameter Butt & Electrofusion.
